Domain Name Selection Strategy
Select the right TLD
If your business' in US, or worldwide, choose .COM, .NET or .ORG TLD. Also .US and .INFO can be used. Of course, COM is the King here.
Short or long?
Short names looks better and easy to remember.
With long domains you can easily target industry phrases and precise keyword terms involving multiple words. By using long domains you can achieve even better well targeted traffic than is sometimes possible with short names.
Hyphens or Not?
Placing hyphens between the words of your domain name can help search engines distinguish between the words in your domain. So hyphenated domain names work with targeted key word campaigns and search engine spiders.
But if you do decide to hyphenate your domain name, buy the same version of the domain name without hyphens, in case your customers forget the hyphens. Simply forward the name without hyphens to the name with hyphens.
Urls without hyphens look more professional. If your marketing intention is to create a brand, a remembered domain name, top of mind awareness with the domain then hyphenless domains work best.
